June 2020- May 2022: BeECO Joint actions for environmental protection in Black Sea Basin

The project (https://www.be-eco.ro/en_US/) aimed to promote environmental protection in the Black Sea Basin by focusing on education, awareness, and river clean-up campaigns to reduce river and marine litter.
It successfully improved public awareness and education on litter problems in rivers and lakes through 8 joint information seminars and 25 educational sessions at schools and universities across partner countries.
The project also promoted good environmental management practices to reduce illegal dumping and landfill sites along riverbanks and lake coasts, organizing 4 roundtable discussions in Galati, Cahul, Kutaisi, and Yerevan.
Additionally, it encouraged the adoption of the ‘3 Rs’ (reduce, reuse, recycle) for waste management through 5 capacity-building sessions. Cross-border collaboration was strengthened through 4 joint river clean-up activities in Galati, Cahul, Kutaisi, and Yerevan, and partnerships between NGOs, local authorities, and waste services were fostered by creating 4 local environmental patrols to combat river litter.
