The project aimed to develop a local Cultural Development Strategy for Ijevan, Armenia, by fostering a decentralized, culture-led economic framework and strengthening cultural heritage conservation.
From December 2021 to August 2024, the activities included: gathering citizen feedback, conducting SWOT and gap analyses, and engaging in peer reviews with Armenian and sister-city municipalities to identify best practices. Strategic goals focused on improving cultural sector management, promoting creative economic initiatives through small grants, and organizing cultural festivals.
Some of key results included an inventory and GIS-based mapping of Ijevan’s cultural assets, improved cultural sector management through peer exchanges, and training for 60 stakeholders in creative cultural development. The initiative, funded by the EU and Goethe Institut, enhanced cultural visibility, fostered collaboration, and strengthened economic growth
